We collect as little as we can.
Lancaster Live is a small, hand-curated bulletin. We do not sell your data. We use subscriptions, site analytics and advertising measurement to support a weekly email and keep the site working.
What we collect
Your email address - only if you choose to subscribe to the Thursday newsletter. We use it to send you the weekly rundown and nothing else.
Privacy-light analytics - basic, aggregate measurements of how the site is used (for example, which pages get visited and roughly how many people stop by). Our first-party analytics record page and action events, campaign parameters and random session and visitor identifiers. The persistent visitor identifier is stored in your browser to recognize return visits. Advertising measurement is described below.
Why we collect it
The email address lets us deliver the newsletter you asked for. The analytics help us understand whether the bulletin is useful and where it can be improved. Advertising measurement also helps us understand which campaigns bring readers to the site.
We do not sell your data
We never sell, rent, or trade your email address or any other personal information. We don't share it with advertisers. The only parties who ever touch it are the service providers listed below, and only so they can do the job we hired them for.
Unsubscribing & deletion
Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@lanclive.com at any time to unsubscribe or to ask us to delete your information entirely. We'll honor deletion requests promptly.
Third-party processors
To run a small site we rely on a few outside services. Each has its own privacy practices:
- Supabase. Our database provider (hosted in the United States). It stores newsletter subscriptions and our own first-party, cookieless usage events (see above). No third party sells or rents your data.
- Plausible Analytics. A privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service that provides the aggregate usage measurements described above.
- Advertising measurement. The site is configured to load the Meta Pixel for page views and signup measurement. It may use advertising cookies and receive browser and event information. Google tags load only if configured. Campaign parameters may also be stored with our first-party usage events.
- OpenStreetMap & CARTO. Serve the map tiles used in the interactive map. When the map loads, your browser requests tiles from these services, which may receive your IP address as part of that normal request.
Cookies & analytics note
We use browser storage for preferences, session and visitor identifiers, and campaign attribution. Configured advertising tags may also use cookies. You can clear them in your browser at any time without breaking the site.
Children
The bulletin is a general-audience listing of public events and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
